Big Data vs Big Testing

Digital dynamics have led to the exponential creation of data (Big Data).

But data itself is inert. It can give us information about the actions we have implemented, but it is our job to make them actionable.

One of the best ways to do this is to run experiments . We can find interesting patterns by looking at our data (remembering that correlation does not necessarily explain causation), use that to formulate hypotheses, and then run experiments to see if those hypotheses hold up in our marketing context .

The results of those experiments are often the most valuable thing in our decision making.

The willingness to challenge the status quo and experiment with new solutions in a state of “ perpetual beta ” must be pervasive within the organization.

The biggest lesson is that we live in a world of constant change and organizations, large or small, need new ways of working to avoid being overwhelmed but to ride this context.
